The Bohemian Dutchmen

The BOHEMIAN DUTCHMEN were formed in 1978 to provide German-Czech polka music for parties, dances, and festivals.

The 6-piece group travels all over Texas and into Oklahoma and Louisiana, playing for various events including rodeos. The basic instrumentation is Drums, Tuba, Accordion, Trombone/ Baritone, Trumpet/ Tenor Sax, and Tenor Sax/ Clarinet/Trumpet. Various members sing in German, Czech, Spanish, and of course English.

The band appears from Dallas to Brownsville, Houston to Odessa, on weekends traveling up to approximately 350 miles, one-way, from their home base of New Braunfels to play, occasionally traveling to an out- of- Texas job. The group plays approximately 30 jobs per year and wears authentic German costumes when appropriate.

The group has made two recording one on the "Oompah" label, with Roy and Theresa's youngest son Jonathan, singing two songs in German and English, and recorded a CD on the "Lone Star" Label. In addition the band has contributed two songs on each of the 4 New Braunfels Polka Leader's releases.
