Dan Gury & The Dyna Dukes

Dan Gury & The Dyna Dukes have been in existence since 1971. Discovered and sent to the Bel-Aire recording studio by Polka Joe & Waltzing Wanda Marcissuk, with their first recording of the Polka Joe & Waltzing Wanda Polka. Two record albums were released on the Bel-Aire label in the early 1970's. A future album on the Sound label, then several on our own Indie label, DJRC, with one on Sunshine. The first "road" job took the Dyna Dukes to the Monessen/Charleroi area of Pennsylvania. The friendly people there, along with Bernie Bujanowski and his family, inspired the song "Pennsylvania Hills" which was penned in 1972 and recorded on Bel-Aire. The "Sounds" of Pittsburgh recorded the song several years later on the insistence of Vinnie Bozzarelli. From there the song really took off, being recorded by numerous groups since. Because of job commitments, the Dyna Dukes never travelled on a regular basis, but did devote two or three weekends a year for "road" jobs. However, when there is the opportunity to travel, count them in.

Here is a list of musicians who have performed (on a steady basis) or recorded with the Dyna Dukes since 1971. If Dan has omitted anyone, it is because his Alzheimers has been acting up. As his memory is restored, he will add the names, sorry (lol). He does not like to take a song and record it as the original. There is always something in it that can be changed. The original songs are also written with the same theme in mind…and that is to “keep it different”. The latest CD, “Polka Radio” keeps the DJ’s in mind when radio skits were added to the mix. Polka Music is fun enough, but double the fun when you mix in some old time radio skits. Also, make sure you listen to “Dance With Me Daddy”, inspired by Dan’s little girl (she also has a guest spot on the song). Eddie Blazonczyk Jr also loans his talent to the CD by singing with Dan on “Pretty Like My Mom”, and helping out with one of the skits. Give a listen and enjoy…and then, hopefully, buy. Thanks for reading. Check out what the Polka DJ's are saying - Thanks for sending me your latest cd. I think its a breath of fresh air in the polka world. Personally I can't see anyone topping this one this year. Johnny Prytko - WWUH-Hartford, CT (Jun 17, 2007) Wow! What a great new CD. It's a winner. Peter J Danielczuk - AM1530 WDJZ - FM 88.7 WNHU - POLKA JAMMER NETWORK (Jun 10, 2007) Thanks for the new one. Brilliant as always. Always a pleasure to get quality new stuff from ya. Billy Belina - WMUA - Easthampton, MA (Jun 2, 2007) What a GREAT new CD! "Polka Radio" really trips my trigger! First time I've heard a polka band do "Gimme Dat Ding" from the Pipkins and the "Wyandotte Taxi" is a splendid cover of Herb Alpert's tune from the 60s. Lots of other superb cuts as well. This goes directly into the 'A' rotation on the Polkalodeon! Steve Barber - WTCM Polkalodeon - Traverse City, MI (Jun 4, 2007)
