Bud Hundenski & The Corsairs:

Bud Hundenski, of Coraopolis Pennsylvania, started the Corsairs band in 1967. Since then, the group has performed across the United States and in Canada. Bud features the “big band” sound of Polka music with a trumpet and sax section reminisant of the big band sound of the late 40’s.

Polka Bandleader Bud Hundenski was born in Canonsburg, Pa., the same birthplace of Bobby Vinton and Perry Como. At the age of 9, Bud began to take accordion lessons, studying privately with first an Italian virtuoso soloist, and then a Polish disciplinarian. During his school years he continued to win amateur solo contests, although his devotion was sometimes distracted by his love for playing baseball, hockey, and football. Musical engagements were played during high school with a trio that Bud had formed. Upon graduation a decision had to be reached, whether to pursue a professional baseball carreer, or become a bandleader. After a stint in the US Marine Corps, “Bud Hundenski and the Corsairs” became a reality.

There is no secret to the band’s enduring success; it is quite simple – musical consistency. This 8-piece band still consistantly performs live as it has on record, with the majority of all Bud’s high-quality musicians having been with the band for over a quarter of a century. Solid performances night in and night out are the band’s trademark, with that hard driving beat.  Their clean-sounding trumpets, articulate clarinet & sax work along with that thunderous driving rhythm section, touched off with the Polish vocals, make their sound distinct and one that stands out today from the others, and cannot be duplicated!

The band has featured the most professional musicians over the years, as well as Hall of Fame vocalists such as the “Clown Prince of Polkas”- Walt Solek, later Matt Wasielewski, and currently the vocal mastery of Eddie Biegaj, featured on the band’s lastest release “Resurgence”, which garnered them PACE (Polka America Corporation Excellence) honors for “Polka Album of the Year”!

In addition to the bands’ travel, Bud maintains a busy schedule by composing and arranging the music, as well as overseeing his own publishing company, comprised of his original copyrighted selections. A sports enthusiant, Bud’s hobbies have included playing ice hockey in the winter and golf in the summer.

Be sure to catch their next live appearance, as these “Power Packed Polkas” are sure to energize you, as evidenced by their live and studio recordings now for more than 4 decades.

From Peppermint Records (Gary Rhamy) and CD Producer (Bud Hundenski):
"Peppermint Records is truly proud to announce and provide you with one our finest pieces of recorded music ever - "Resurgence!" by Bud Hundenski & The Corsairs! The reason why this Pittsburg based Polish-American band has entertained Polka music lovers across the US and Canada for more than 4 decades is quite simple - musical consistency. They continue to deliver their solid traditional big-band stylings as professionally in person as they do on recordings, with drive, excitement, and class. Their sound remains true to this day as it has always been clean and crisp, and yet rich! This recording exemplifies the talents of Bud's unparalleled musicians, who have been loyal to the band for all these years. Their qualities are showcased here in combination with the multi-talents of Bud Hundenski the composer, lyricist, arranger, band-leader, and musician to make for t his unforgettable production. To highlight the completion of this recording, the unmistakable and renowned Polish and English vocals of Eddie Biegaj have been added, to make for a musical "match made in heaven." You will be surprised and thrilled to hear the fresh presentations of some very familiar tunes, such as "Happy Birthday" (as you have never heard it), as well as The Barber," which you will notice is a variation of the band's original "Polka Swing," which was a huge hit early on. Another number which will be sure to catch your ear is the title tune "Roll Out The Stoney's." This clever and cute re-make of an award-winning jingle from the 60's is about a Western Pa beer which has been a fan favorite among the Polka crowd for years. The additional selections will also prove to be most refreshing, (and in cases nostalgic) with that ever-present unique Corsairs sound providing a memorable and lasting form of musical entertainment. A special thank you also goes out to the "Jones Brewery" of Smithon, Pennsylvania, brewers of "Stoney's Beer," for their involvement and sponsorship of this CD. "Stoney's" has been around for more than a century, and is currently owned by the Podlucky family, who are of Slovak Descent. This is their way of thanking their customers for their patronage over the years, whether drinking a cold "Stoney's" at a family wedding or party, or at your local tavern or club. After all, what can be more fitting than enjoying a hot polka and a cold refreshing "Stoney's Beer?" So polka and beer lovers, here is your opportunity to do both! Let's enjoy the music as we 'ROLL OUT THE STONEY'S!" "
