The Litt l Fishermen Orchestra first performed for a dance on New Year's Eve, 1969 at Gruenau Hall near Yorktown. Since that night the band has played for thousands of dances in Texas, and has made three tours, playing in Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota. The band has made 8 audio recordings, a one hour TV show, and a one hour video tape.

Playing with the present band are 3 members who played at the New Years Eve Opening Night and over half of the band have been members for at least 38 years. The band usually plays as a 9 piece polka band featuring 3 brass, 3 saxophone/clarinets, an accordion, tuba, and drums; or as a 10 piece ballroom band featuring 3 brass, 4 saxophone/clarinets, a piano, string bass, and drums. Every band member doubles on instruments and/or vocals which contribute to various combinations of sounds. This gives the band much variety. Vocals are performed in German, Czech, Spanish, and, of course, English.

Weekend dance jobs take the group from Dallas to Brownsville, Odessa to Houston, and Lufkin to Lubbock, up to 400 miles from New Braunfels in any direction. The group plays approximately 25 jobs per year at festivals such as WurstFest in New Braunfels, weddings, anniversaries, fairs, dance clubs, and public dances.
