New Braunfels Village Brass Band
The New Braunfels Village Brass Band was organized in 1987. Its stated purpose is to study, to promote, and to perpetuate the performance of authentic European brass band music and to educate, to foster, and to encourage the greater appreciation of this music by the general public. The band has approximately 40 active members from New Braunfels and the surrounding area. Some musicians travel as far as 150 miles to rehearse and perform with the group. It has performed throughout the South Central Texas area and, at present, has four recordings available on cassette and CD. The band also recorded a one hour video for National TV on The “Big Joe” polka show.
On the first Sunday of Wurstfest (usually the first Sunday in November) the band plays for two Masses at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Braunfels. This year will be our 23nd year to perform there. For the past 15 years the band has been a part of two services at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Braunfels on the last Sunday of Wurstfest (usually the second Sunday in November). The band has also provided music for services at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, St. John Lutheran Church in Boerne, and Friedens (Peace) United Church of Christ.
