Polka Sounds In The South: The Polka Plus Band brings polka sounds to North Carolina and other Southern states. Formed in 1991 as a hobby band, Polka Plus plays a variety of music from polka/waltz, rock & roll, swing, and ballads, what ever the listeners want to hear. All members of the band sing. Members grew up hearing and playing polka music, which is what drew the group together. In the South the demand for polka music is not that great, which makes their style of playing unique. To their knowledge they are the only true polka band in NC that play a variety of polka music. The band has performed at Raleigh’s International Fest, St. Stanislaus Polish Fest, St. Michael’s International Fest, and at Durham Centerfest 2009 - in addition private performances at senior retirement homes, Wynwood Retirement, Forest at Duke, Durham VA hospital and other private events.

The makeup of the band are musicians from all walks of life, retired military, computer engineer, medical
personnel, business consultant who have a love of polka music.
